'Ocean Dream' (Photo Tutorial)

'Ocean Dream' (Photo Tutorial)

First of all I gathered up my 6" Round Gelli Plate, A Stencil of choice (in this case, Bubbles) my Brayer & 2 colours of Satin Acrylic Paint, 'Look At Me Blue' & 'Parchment'....

I squeezed 3 small blobs of the Blue Paint onto the Gelli Plate, & spread them thinly with the brayer to cover the Gelli Plate. I then placed the stencil over the top of the paint & brayered over it to remove the paint that was showing through the 'bubbles...

Next I pulled off the stencil & allowed the, still wet, paint to dry for 2-3 minutes...this is how it looked...

Next I put 3 small blobs of the 'Parchment' colour paint on top of the dried 'blue' paint & brayered it to completely cover the blue layer of paint. Whilst still wet, I placed a piece of smooth white 300gsm card size 6.5" x 8" over the top & gently rubbed my hand over it....

I then gently peeled back the card & this is what I had achieved...

So, with my background done (had to leave it to completely dry for 5 or so minutes) I selected my choice of Lavinia Stamps & started to stamp up my scene. Using my Stamping Platform, I stamped Sebastian The Seahorse LAV496, first of all in Purple Delight Versafine Clair Ink & then again in Medieval Blue Versafine Clair Ink (just around his outlines).....

I then, using Versafine Clair Inks, stamped up the rest of the images that made my scene...Stamps used were Sea Creatures LAV170, Fairy Barnacle LAV423, Seaweed LAV436, Spanish Moss Foliage LAV505 & Deeper Than The Ocean (words) LAV447.Ink colours used were Green Oasis, Verdant, Warm Breeze, Medieval Blue, Pinecone, Monarch, Rain Forest & Nocturne...

I then used a corner stamp of a FIshing Net  that came from a set called Lighthouse Bay by Hunkydory & stamped the two top corners...

Next was adding all the highlights & finer details using Uni Posca Pens, Pink, Yellow & White, Gelly Roll Clear Glitter Pen & a Gelly Roll White Gel Pen...

I then mixed a tiny amount of Pink Mica Powder with a drop of water & painted in the bubbles for colour, sparkle & texture...Here is a close up to try to show those details...

Last of all, I layered my picture onto a a piece of slightly larger, coloured cardstock &..........

Voila!

Oh, my! I have Sebastian and Sea Creatures, a small bubbles stamp and a couple of gel plates, but that’s about it – no paints. Sigh….. I guess that’s going to have to be my next investment.
